| If your students' desks are arranged in clusters, you probably have them engaged in a certain amount of cooperative or collaborative work. Technology can also be used in a variety of ways in this setting: for research, multimedia presentations, hypermedia presentations, building computer models or simulations, and more. Creating a technology area in your classroom, if one doesn't already exist, would be ideal. A bank of 4 - 6 computers with Internet access would help foster the seamless infusion of technology as a tool for teaching your curriculum. If you have notebook computers or "smart" keyboards available, these could be taken to the groups, adding extra flexibility to this arrangement. It's important to remember, though, that no more than two students should use the computer at once. Beyond that, they become merely spectators instead of engaged learners. |
