Installation
Before you begin, you will need to check to make sure you have a couple of important programs on your computer:
Web browser - The ToolKit files, images and movies run in a Web browser and are only available to registered subscribers. You will need version 4.0 or higher of a Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer Internet browser, or an equivalent web browser. You must have JavaScript enabled and allow cookies (we do not write any cookies to your disc). You can not bookmark any pages after you are logged in, however you can return to the page you last Logged Out from.
Please see http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.netscape.com to download the latest version that is compatible with your computer. Follow the installation instructions that come with your browser.
Adobe Acrobat Reader - Some ToolKit files are saved in a cross-platform file viewer called Acrobat. This application installs a plug-in called PDFViewer. When you download and install the Adobe Acrobat program, it automatically detects which browser(s) you have on your computer and installs the PDFViewer plug-in into the correct folder. If you don't have the Adobe Acrobat Reader, use your browser to go to http://www.adobe.com and get the Acrobat Reader program. You may have to navigate through a few pages to get the program. Follow the installation instructions.
Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Flash - ToolKit movie files are saved in the Flash format. To view the movies within your browser, you will need the Flash plug-in. When you download and install Flash, it automatically detects which browser(s) you have on your computer and installs the Flash plug-in into the correct folder. If you don't have Flash, use your browser to go to http://macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer and get the Flash application. Follow the installation instructions. Dialup users will need to be patient and allow the videos (1-8 MB) to download.
System Compatibility Issues
The ToolKit has been tested on Windows 95, 98, NT, XP and Macintosh OS 8.0 through 8.6. The system version you are using is not as important as the browser version you are using. The ToolKit requires version 4.0 or higher of Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. If you experience difficulties running the ToolKit, please go to the Help section of the site.
Viewing The ToolKit on your computer
Web browsers have the flexibility to use any font installed on your computer to view Web pages. Therefore, although we have created The ToolKit in a specific set of fonts, we cannot control the font that you have selected for your specific browser. If the fonts don't appear clear or for some reason you don't like the way they look, you can experiment with the fonts for your specific browser. See the documentation that came with your Web browser to change the font size and style.
