The Toolbox - Hardware/Software Area
The Technology Infusion ToolKit focuses on the concepts behind the hardware and software including their purpose, choices you may face in purchasing, and their use in the classroom. Because changes in hardware and software are so frequent, we include specific and current information on products we feel are valuable to the infusion of technology into the classroom in this area of the Technology Infusion ToolKit Web-site.

The Hardware Area of the ToolKit includes individual sections on: Desktops, Laptops/Tablets, PDAs, Storage Devices, Printers, Scanners, Digital Cameras, Video, Audio, Networks, Interactive Boards and Projection Devices.

The Software Area of the ToolKit includes individual sections on: Programming Languages, Object-Oriented Programs, Web Authoring, Multimedia Authoring, Simulations, Web Navigation, E-Mail, Reference Software, Tool Software, and Drill & Practice Software.

Here is an example of information you will find in just one of eleven hardware areas:

Printer technology has changed drastically over the years. Early thermal printers used heated print heads to burn letters onto heat-sensitive paper. Dot matrix printers used a series of pins to strike a ribbon to create text and images. Laser printers transfer text and images onto paper with a laser beam. Inkjet printers spray ink onto paper. Bubblejet printers heat ink until it bubbles and spurts onto paper.

The section then goes on to discuss things to consider when purchasing an inkjet or laser printer.
